Know About William B. Skiff, Esq., J.D.

Born and raised in Williston, Vermont. Bill Skiff graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 1982. He attended St. Lawrence University earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In 1992, he graduated from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.). 

Bill is admitted to practice in Vermont State Courts, the Vermont Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court, District of Vermont, and is a member of the Vermont & New York State Bars. Bill lives on a small farm in Williston with his wife, children, and his parents, Ruth and Bill (senior) Skiff nearby. He is an avid cyclist and skier and has been known to charm the honey out of bees. The Skiff family has lived in Vermont for five generations and Bill’s great-great-grandfather served with the Vermont First Calvary in the Civil War. 

Bill is certified as an Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT) and every 4th of July, he can be found judging the Williston Frog Jumping Contest. Since starting his work as a Vermont Attorney, Bill’s practice has focused primarily on presenting workers’ compensation cases on behalf of injured Vermonters. Additionally, he acts as a mediator / arbitrator in civil cases and is a popular and regular speaker at legal conferences and meetings as a member of the Chittenden County and Vermont Bar Associations. As claimant’s representative in hundreds in workers’ compensation cases, he has helped injured Vermonters and their families for over 18 years. He successfully appears before the Department of Labor frequently and has tried jury cases to verdict in state courts across Vermont.
